WHAT IS NOTEWORTHY is that THESE SET OF POINTS (in Rule 2) OBLIGATE THE MOVEMENT TO THE SERVICE OF THE HUMANITY

Having captured a beachhead ( which means in simple English a defended position on the beach taken from the enemy by the landing forces, from which an attack can be launched ), the NDR placed us in a strategic point to further advance in a more reliable way the historic cause of the people.

Our beachhead is the securing of a consistent democracy enshrined in an enabling constitutional framework (a historic platform on which will realize the ideals of our people).

Cde President Mbeki during the presentation of the OR TAMBO lecture as part of the celebrations of the Centenary of the ANC had this to say about the 3 strategic tasks of the National democratic revolution:

THE THREE STRATEGIC TASKS OF THE NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC REVOLUTION

First strategic task:

Ending colonial and white minority rule in our country, and indeed our region, therefore to transform South Africa into non-racial democracy.

Second strategic task:

The eradication of the legacy of colonialism and apartheid.

Third strategic task:

The entrenchment of the National Democratic society focused on ensuring the permanence of the genuinely democratic, non-racial, non-sexist, and prosperous society visualized in our constitution.

ON THE ABOVE I AM TRYING TO RESTATE HOW HUGE IS THE TASK ON THE SHOULDERS OF THE AFRICAN NATIONAL CONGRESS THUS MAKING A CASE FOR RENEWAL

The second paragraph of our 54th conference declaration says, “We convened under the theme of “Remembering Tambo: Towards Unity, Renewal and Radical Economic Transformation“, to remind ourselves of Cde OR’s legacy of SELFLESS SERVICE to HIS PEOPLE and our DUTY TO EMULATE HIM IN WORKING FOR THE UNITY AND THE RENEWAL OF OUR ORGANIZATION”

It is my belief that this theme was deliberately adopted by the leadership as an exercise of recommitment, and self-re-energization to put more effort to restore the dignity of the organization, based on the negative data pertaining to the reputation of the organization at the time. It was a call to relive in our memory the selflessness that led to the ANC being accorded the highest status of leadership in South Africa.
